In US and UK, people often take 2 week-long holidays around Christmas to have fun with friends and family.
In north India, some people utilize the whole
Diwali week to enjoy the festive spirit while some do so during Durga Puja.
While few people take 1 month's break in-between new job changes to relax and
rejuvenate.
Above are a few examples of conscious efforts
people put in to prioritize health and inner peace.
Does a long break
reduce stress levels and increase life span?
One of my friends was overwhelmed with work in
a startup where she was Director. Her manager offered her 3-month long break to
think and come back with a fresh mind. My friend’s stress level reduced
significantly upon rejoining work. The beforementioned concept was new to me as
in my current financial situation, I never considered a career break as a
possibility.
Another friend took a 6-month break from work
as his stress level had reached a dangerous level and he had borderline
depression accompanied by insomnia. Since he had attained financial freedom in
stage 5, he took the risk to leave his job completely. Although he is job
hunting currently, I interacted with him about the pros and cons of leaving his
job at the peak of his career.
According to him, taking a 6-month break has
increased his life span by 2 years as his stress level has decreased
significantly. His family environment and kids’ interaction have also improved
considerably as he emptied the long-pending bucket list during the break.
My experience of
leaves and Mental wellness in Publicis Sapient:
In Publicis Sapient we get 40 leaves in a year
including 18 vacation leaves. Last year, my manager took 2 weeklong vacations
while 1 week-long vacation is a norm in my team. For me, Publicis Sapient
Gurgaon's reviews about leave policy and vacation are true as I have seen and
availed these benefits myself.
In April, I planned a 10-day long vacation with no work calls and that vacation is one of the best times of my year. I have personally experienced the power of relaxing on temperament and stress levels during that long no-rush vacation.
There are mixed Publicis Sapient reviews
spread online but the leave policy is positive across all of them.
