Are we ready for a work culture like never before? We are officially entering the fifth month since the lockdown happened and things have only gotten worse. Millions lost their lives and millions are on the verge of losing all they have. This pandemic has affected each one of us in different ways. Many businesses came back to where they started and many got shut due to no operations. People lost their jobs and all other means necessary to earn a livelihood.
There are some industries which faced their share of struggles, but came out from the tough spot and are currently at a better position. The Healthcare industry must have been pretty profitable for obvious reasons. The IT sector also faced the impact, but is managing the situation quite well. With advancements in technology and infrastructure which allow you to work from home, work is being managed during these difficult times pretty smoothly. Although hiring is on hold, existing employees and other workforce are comparatively facing less heat.
My organization, Publicis Sapient Gurgaon has also made necessary tweaks to make work from home a feasible solution. While business has definitely taken a hit, the management and leadership are leaving no stones unturned to minimize the effect of this pandemic on the business front.
While working from home, I have also realized that this could be how companies operate in the future. COVID-19 came out of nowhere and changed almost everything, most importantly human behavior. It also created an opportunity for businesses to strategize and design a futuristic work environment. During our team calls, we discussed the possibility of turning this thought into a practical solution. At Publicis Sapient, where people actually innovate, this could be taken up as a new challenge. You might see it getting implemented in the days to come.
Many conglomerates have already announced the permanent work from home model for some part of their workforce, and the same could be adopted in Publicis Sapient as well. As an employee, I am only mentioning of its probability and it’s not an official announcement. If there’s anything remotely similar happening at Publicis Sapient, it would be communicated officially through a proper channel.
The purpose of this Publicis Sapient Gurgaonreview is to highlight the possibility of a situation in the coming days as many businesses have realized this as a feasible and effective solution. I personally agree with them and would happily accept working from home. It’s only a matter of time now. Please mention your thoughts on it in the comments below.
